What difference between PVC and PP?

Sometimes, we tend to get confused between PP and PVC. What are the differences between them? Who are they? What can they do? How can we use them? Personally, I prefer using a table to list the relationships between different elements. So today, I'll use a table to explain the differences between PP and PVC.

What difference between PP and PVC?

PP

PVC

Full Name

Polypropylene

Polyvinyl Chloride

Chemical Structure

thermoplastic resin polymerized from propylene monomers, known for its high heat resistance, chemical resistance, and strength

thermoplastic resin polymerized from vinyl chloride monomers, and its products may contain plasticizers and other additives.

Physical Properties

low density (around 0.90–0.91 g/cm³)

higher density (around 1.4 g/cm³)

good electrical properties

good tensile

high-frequency insulation

compressive strength

become brittle at low temperatures

less flexible

has poor heat resistance.

Application Fields

automotive

construction

home appliances

artificial leather

medical devices

corrosion-resistant pipes

acid and alkali-resistant equipment

centrifugal pumps

 environmental protection equipment

blowers

wastewater and exhaust gas discharge systems

oil pipelines

Product difference

with its lightweight, chemical resistance, and good mechanical properties, is commonly used in food packaging, medical devices, household items, and more. It is especially suitable for products requiring high heat resistance and environmental friendliness

nown for its durability, corrosion resistance, and insulation properties, is widely used in construction, cables, pipes, and other fields, making it ideal for products that need to be weather-resistant and corrosion-proof
